Slovakia has gradually included 13 most important wetlands on the List of Internationally Important Wetlands within the commitment of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (adopted on 2nd February 1971 in Iranian city of Ramsar), ratified by the Slovak Republic in 1990. One of them is the Domica, Ramsar Site, which was included on the list on 2nd February 2001 as the 12th Ramsar site in Slovakia (number 1051 in the list). The preparation was shared by the Ministry of the Environment, Slovak Caves Administration and State Nature Conservation. The second underground wetland included on list of Ramsar on 17th November 2006 are the Caves of the Demanovska Valley.

after a longer period we reopen the long tour in the Demänovska Cave of Liberty from the 1st of July 2024. The tour is open once a day at 13:15 from June to August (3 months) and at 13:00 during the rest of the opening days. Number of visitors is limited, the tour is demanding, with many steps and it takes more than one and a half hours. Cave temperature is around 7°C whole year round. We are looking forward to your visit.
